How Kombi Keg Operates
Gertie is a unique and versatile mobile bar based in Townsville ready to serve your BYO alcoholic drinks.
We have 6 taps ready to serve your choice of beer, cider, wine, cocktails, soft drinks and more. Gertie the mobile bar also comes with three drink tubs at the rear of the van, filled with ice to keep your other bottled drinks cold.
We can provide RSA approved staff in Townsville and surrounds to pour the drinks for you, or your guests can help themselves! When your event is over, we pack up and drive out – it’s as simple as that!
If your event or local Townsville catering company supplies the drinks we can work directly with them to ensure your event goes off without a hitch!

Kombi Keg includes:
- An instant chill beer cooling system to keep your beers pouring cold all night long;
- 6 beer taps capable of connecting to sixth, quarter or half-barrel kegs of beer, cider and even wine;
- Food grade C02 gas to pressurize the kegs;
- 19L kegs for homebrew, soft drinks or water – let us know if you require keg hire services when making a booking;
- 3 drinks tubs in the rear of the Kombi, full of ice ready to put your cans or bottles in;
- Multiple benchtop options to suit the theme and style of your Townsville event;
- Rooftop TV to display your media of choice – great for brand activation events, showcasing your logo, products or services.

Benchtop Bar Options
For laid back and relaxed events, we recommend choosing our classic surfboard bench. The classic option for most of the events we serve in Townsville, our surfboard bench completes the Kombi Keg look.
For classier or more formal events (such as a corporate function), you can also choose to have our Kombi Keg mobile bar fitted with a rustic wooden bench bar.
Rooftop TV
Create the ultimate event with our pop-up flat-screen TV. Watch the game in style, show movies, photos, logos, live TV and more. The rooftop TV is also great for hens and bucks nights to display some embarrassing photos of your guest of honour. Please note, power hook up is required to operate the TV.

Day of logistics
On the day of your event in Townsville, we will deliver Gertie the mobile bar to your venue, hook up and set the pressures of the kegs and test the flow. We then leave you to it and return to pick up the Kombi Keg after the event. Also, we can provide bartenders if you require – it couldn’t be easier!
A Little History
The story behind Gertie the mobile bar
Gertie is a lover of travel and parties. She was originally owned by Ellie, a girl who was in a girl band that travelled the East Coast of Australia. Gertie in her day was originally painted pink/purple with the number plate GER-7IE hence her nickname “Gertie”.
After a few years when the band members moved in different directions, she was sold to her second owner Bella who loved Kombis. Bella’s Grandfather grew up in Germany where he was a Kombi mechanic who worked in a German VW factory.
Bella had her heart set on owning a 75-78 model Kombi, as these were the years that her Grandfather worked in the VW factory. Gertie is a 78 model Kombi which Bella drove daily until Kombi Keg became the proud new owners.
Kombi Keg restored and kegged Gertie where she is now the life of the party in and around North Queensland with Dean & Tina ready to get your party started.

Please Note
The Kombi Keg is hired out as a ‘dry hire’ with no alcohol included. As we don’t carry a liquor license we cannot directly purchase alcohol for you, but we can help you organise your kegs and drinks, and pick them up and return them to the supplier after the event. We have connections to local breweries and beer companies who can put together great packages for Kombi Keg customers. We also have 19l kegs that can be used for home brew, soft drink, and water. Just let us know when you book what you need and we will make it happen.
