Bench Options
When you hire a Kombi Keg, you’ve got two bench options to choose from. The surfboard bench is a classic and fits the laid back vibes of the sunny Whitsundays. However, sometimes the surfboard bench doesn’t suit all events. If you prefer a classier option, we also have a rustic wooden bench option.
Rooftop TV
Pop up flat screen TV so you can watch the game in style, play movies, photos, logos, live TV etc. If you’re planning your event in an open space, remember we require power to hook up the TV.

We will make sure you're set up for success

A Little History
Meet Sugar
“Sugar” is a 1961 Split Screen VW T2 Kombi.
With rather humble, non-glamorous beginnings, Sugar was originally purchased for carting vegetables to market in North Queensland. As sugar cane is abundant in the region it is thought that this was where the inspiration for her name came from.
She then spent some time doing more robust work as a building materials courier in the early 70’s for a local carpenter. Being the handyman that he was, in his retirement he then totally transformed her in order to begin her new life with he and his wife on the road as a Kombi camper. Whilst tripping around the countryside she was then snapped up by her most recent owner and has very recently been a popular regular at country markets on the mid-North coast of NSW.
There she flaunted her beauty alongside her hippster mum who used Sugar for tastefully displaying her vintage creations. Fittingly, Sugar has now returned to her roots and is wowing the people of Mackay & Whitsundays.
It is hoped that her timeless beauty and charm will see her prosper once more and she plans to live out the rest of her days as an ‘old skool cool’ beer wench!
Kombi Keg Whitsundays
We are Calvin & Shirlz, the names behind Kombi Keg Whitsundays.
With strong family ties to the region, we love the outdoor laid back lifestyle this region is famous for and can’t think of any better way to enjoy everything this spectacular part of the world has to offer…
Shirlz has a background in sales & marketing and is a long-serving local solar energy consultant by day. She is also a busy mum to the gorgeous Miss Olivia who “wants to have her own Kombi one day!”.
Calvin is an industrial electrician with 20 years experience in his trade and likes to spend his days off drinking Mochas, watching the footy, both NRL and AFL and taking in the city vibe. These days (since launching Kombi Keg Whitsundays) he doesn’t get to do this too often!

Please Note
The Kombi Keg is hired out as a ‘dry hire’ with no alcohol included. As we don’t carry a liquor license we cannot directly purchase alcohol for you, but we can help you organise your kegs and drinks, and pick them up and return them to the supplier after the event. We have connections to local breweries and beer companies who can put together great packages for Kombi Keg customers. We also have 19L kegs that can be used for homebrew, soft drink, and water. Just let us know when you book what you need and we will make it happen.
Need more info? Frequently Asked Questions
Many variable costs go into hiring a mobile bar from Kombi Keg Whitsundays. To get a quick estimation of costs, we recommend contacting our team directly with the date of your event and the expected guest count. From there, we’ll get in touch to discuss our mobile bar hire services in more detail – including the option to have bar staff to serve guests.
Our VW Kombi Keg can access most large properties and venues throughout our service area. The Kombi Keg mobile bar needs to be on private property, as it cannot be used on council property without a permit. Most hire venues are private property, however, every venue has different rules, so check with the venue for their rules and regulations around the serving of alcohol and the use of Kombi Keg Whitsundays. It is the responsibility of the person hiring Kombi Keg to check this before booking as all deposits are non-refundable.
Yes! Anything that comes in keg form can be served through the freezing cold taps of the Kombi Keg. Including ciders, wine, water, soft drinks etc. You can even run your homebrew.
Yes! Consider us your one-stop shop for your event bar needs. Although we love using our local suppliers, we can get our hands on more commercial brands if so desired. We create drink packages to suit all tastes and budgets.
We can supply staff with an RSA and would be happy to stay and serve your guests as an optional extra. If your mobile bar hire is for private property, there is a great chance that it can be self-serve. However, you would need to check this out for your area and your event venue.
This is only a general rule of thumb. You know your guests better than anyone else, take into consideration the fact that you might have big drinkers or that maybe only a few enjoy a tipple.
